IMPORTANCE OF CLEANLINESS

There is a saying that cleanliness is next to Godliness, and there is no doubt that it is. Cleanliness means there is no dirt, bugs, foul odour or stains. It is essential to maintain cleanliness for the sake of health, beauty and peace of mind. Cleanliness not only helps maintain good physical health but also keeps one’s mental state healthy. Let’s talk about preserving cleanliness at different places.

Cleanliness in Offices: One’s workplace is said to be their place of worship. Offices need to be clean. From the cleaning of carpets, floor, tabletops, toilets, etc., a workspace must ensure everything is pristine. There are many solutions available for commercial surface sanitisation. Such service houses offer a wide range of services including hand sanitisation to floor disinfectants, pest controls, hospital-grade fogging sanitization and more. Who would work in an office that isn’t clean to look at or not hygienic as a workplace?

Cleanliness in Schools: In schools, cleanliness is vital for multiple reasons. Not only do children spend a large fraction of their day in this environment, but they are also at an impressionable age, and cleanliness is a good habit to teach early in life. Children should be taught the importance of cleanliness by asking them to maintain it in schools, public places, homes, hospitals, etc. Teachers can also ask them to prepare speeches on the importance of cleanliness in various aspects of life. Traditionally, Japanese students have to clean the schools themselves. It includes sweeping, mopping, dusting, toilet cleaning, etc. When it comes to learning from other cultures, this is a great tradition to adapt.

Cleanliness at Home: Home is where people spend most of the time. A house has people from all age groups, including children, the elderly and the youngsters. Some age groups particularly need their surroundings clean. Infants and toddlers need special care when it comes to maintaining cleanliness. Elderly might be allergic to dust due to weak immune systems. Commercial surface sanitisation services might also be used at home time to time to get rid of dirt, bugs, stains, etc.

Cleanliness of Bodies: Keeping our bodies clean is as important as keeping our surroundings clean. Below are a few cleanliness habits everyone should follow in their everyday lives.

  1. One should always wash hands before and after eating.
  2. Brush your teeth at least twice daily
  3. No spreading of litter here and there
  4. Bathing every day
  5. Children should wash hands after playing
  6. Covering your nose while coughing or sneezing
  7. Always cover your food
  8. If you have pets, make sure they are clean too
  9. Wash hands before and after cooking
  10. Wash your feet before going to bed

An economy as a whole cannot do without cleanliness either. There are sewage systems, garbage disposal, disposal of human excreta, nuclear waste disposal, etc., that are essential aspects of running an economy. Clean drinking water is another vital element without which there could be diseases like cholera, malaria, dysentery, diarrhoea, typhoid, etc.

Lastly, when we talk about cleanliness, it is not only physical. One must not ignore the cleanliness of one’s minds. To become a good human being, one must attain a clean mind and soul. Good thoughts, good deeds, respect for elders and younger ones are a few aspects of having a healthy mind. One could use meditation to keep their thoughts positive and stay calm and peaceful. One must also learn to put aside selfish desires, practise empathy, and do some community work to help the needy. Giving compliments to make people feel good also spreads positivity. It also gives personal satisfaction when you see someone happy, and what’s more, it could make someone’s day.

Cleanliness, both physical and mental, is essential in one’s life, and one must do everything to preserve it.
